Learning Objectives:
Explain the Purpose of the Home Visit
Participants will be able to articulate why the Home Visit is the central and distinctive work of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and how it reflects the Vincentian mission of encounter and accompaniment.
Demonstrate Vincentian Attitudes and Virtues
Participants will be able to demonstrate the core Vincentian virtues—simplicity, humility, gentleness, selflessness, and zeal—through role-play scenarios and discussion of appropriate conduct during a Home Visit.
Apply Practical Home Visit Procedures
Participants will be able to outline and follow proper Home Visit procedures, including preparation, safety guidelines, active listening, documentation, and maintaining confidentiality.
Practice Spiritual and Compassionate Listening
Participants will be able to practice empathetic, nonjudgmental listening skills that affirm the dignity of the neighbor in need and foster a relationship rooted in respect, compassion, and hope.
